Six criteria, 100 points in total. The same calculation on every product — code computes the points, not judgement.
Named meat with a published percentage scores highest. A grain or an unnamed meat component in first place scores lowest.
Crude protein from the label, by threshold. No published percentage, no points.
Whether every meat and fat component names its animal, or stands as “meat meal” and “animal fat”.
How many grains and starches land in the first three ingredients, where the shares still carry weight.
How many ingredients declare a share. A label without numbers cannot be checked.
Disputed additives and vague group labels on the ingredient panel.
A composition rating is not a health assessment. It describes the recipe and the label, not whether the food suits a particular dog or cat. Allergies, weight and diet stay a question for your vet.
Transparency: We may earn a commission from partner links on the product pages. No product is sponsored and this does not affect the rating.
You enter breed, age, weight and sensitivities. Identitail checks this composition against them and says what might not fit.
